EPD 2024: Gender Pension Gap

The gender pension gap - a consequence of structural disadvantages?

Saturday, February 17, 2024 is Equal Pay Day in Switzerland.

Until this day, we women in Switzerland are still working without pay. That is why it is so important that we all continue to actively and loudly oppose and campaign for this to change one day: for all working women, but also for our descendants. Around this day, many action-packed and creative events take place within our almost forty BPW clubs - just keep an eye on the calendar of events in your region/club and get involved.

This year - as in 2022 - we are placing Equal Pay Day under the main theme of "Gender Pension Gap", which manifests itself primarily in the 2nd pillar and is determined by the upcoming vote on pension reform. BPW Switzerland will contribute to the ongoing discussion and take into account the different points of view. We call on all BPW to find answers to the following questions together:

What does the Gender Pension Gap have to do with Equal Pay Day? What are the structural problems underlying the Gender Pension Gap? What aspects are important in the upcoming LPP reform? What can I do myself to improve my prospects of a living pension? What risks do I need to take into account?
