Member Showcase 2024

Nadya, Sara & Petya

Communicating ideas and information as well as motivating and inspiring others are key abilities that are highly desirable in many environments, whether in the workplace or elsewhere. Our showcase is now and annual feature in the Events calendar, designed to create a safe space for three of our Members to speak on a topic of their choice. It is the perfect way for our three stars of the evening to polish and hone their speaking skills as they prepare with support from professional coach, Maureen Steele, and to step confidently into the spotlight with their talks. Please come along and enjoy a wonderful evening with Nadya, Sara and Petya.

Women in Aerospace: Challenges and Opportunities
   Nadya Krishko

Women in aerospace have faced many challenges, including gender discrimination and lack of representation. However, efforts to encourage more women to enter STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields have been increasing. Additionally, organizations such as Women in Aerospace (WIA) promote leadership and provide resources to women working in the industry. In recent years, women have held increasingly influential roles, and many programs now aim to address the gender gap and encourage diversity within the aerospace industry. As a woman working in this industry at senior level, Nadya is uniquely qualified to provide her perspective on the obstacles and opportunities for women to grow their careers in aerospace. She will share her own experiences and discuss ways in which women can maximise their impact and continue advocating for positive change when it comes to diversity, inclusion, and innovation.

The Art of Job Searching: Talent, Hard Work and Resilience
   Sara Barradas

In today's workplace, no job is forever. The Swiss job market is both highly competitive and constantly evolving. This means that you might have to find new jobs or make a few career pivots multiple times over your working life. This can be especially challenging when you are over 50, non-Swiss and a woman - it can take a very resilient mindset and approach to successfully target and secure the right position for you. With her mixed academic background in Statistics, CRM and Supply Chain Management, Sara moved to Switzerland 18 years ago at the invitation of her employer who could not find anyone with her profile and experience locally. Since then it has been a bit of a roller-coaster ride. Little could she guess how many bad surprises the Swiss job market would have for her. In her talk, Sara will share her experience as a job searcher in the Swiss market, highlighting the good, the bad and the ugly, and providing her tips to keep smiling and how to stay resilient.

About Sara
Born in Lisbon, Sara is a proud mother, a dedicated friend, former team leader, and volunteer. Her academic background includes Economics, Statistics and Information Management, CRM and Market Studies, as well as Supply Chain Management. Sara has worked in Analytics, CRM and Supply Chain as a consultant, programme manager and change manager. Having started her career in Portugal, she moved to Switzerland in 2006. During her career in both countries, Sara has worked on global implementations for major clients cross-industry, delivering analytical strategies, co-creating analytical competence centers, delivering workshops and training, constantly improving organizations’ capacity to develop insights with advanced analytics. Sara co-created the Swiss Association for Analytics, a non-profit organization aiming to promote a broader usage of Data Analysis and Artificial Intelligence in Switzerland. Sara has been a BPW member since 2019 and served on the Board.

Better Decision-Making Through Self-Havening: A Neuroscientific Approach

   Petya Barraud

Did you know that your brain unconsciously processes information to help you make decisions, sometimes bringing joy and other times causing stress or fear? While real threats require quick decision-making and fast action, most perceived threats are psychological and can be managed by calming your brain so you can explore various possible resolutions. One way to calm the nervous system and thus make better informed decisions is through a simple and yet powerful process called Self-Havening. This technique, despite its simplicity, is highly effective in managing psychological threats and empowering decision-making. Self-Havening is one way of applying the Havening Techniques model, a neuroscience-based psychosensory modality, engaging our inherent biological systems to permanently heal, strengthen and empower the mind and the body. Find out more and join Petya as she guides you in taking the first steps in your self-empowering journey!

About Petya

In her free time, she loves to explore the mind-body connection by expanding her knowledge and skills, learning healthy food tips, going to the gym, and walking in nature, capturing eye-catching shots with her camera.
